The weekend...

This past weekend was beyond incredible. I flew back to my home state of California for the wedding of one of my dearest friends. All the greatest chums were present, eager to celebrate in her momentous day, and the memories and good times just kept coming. I could not have asked for a better result of spending 12 hours round trip in an airplane, for what ended up being a 15-minute ceremony. Totally worth it.

And, after all was said and done, I could not wait to get back to my new home city, so that was a delightful realization on its own. I had dinner last night with one of my fabulous neighbs from my old Cali neighborhood. He happened to be in town for dinner and it was just as if I'd never left. How can one girl get so lucky?

I'll amend, reading the delightful Heart of Light this morning, I was smacked in the head by how amazing some people's romantic relationships are, and also made to crave a delicious macaron of my very own. Oh yes, I read certain blogs compulsively, and the one linked above never fails to put me in a happy mood.

In sum, cherish happy memories, live in the moment, and try to always keep your heart and head open. I have the most trouble with the last one, I'm a bit of a pre-judger. Time to stop that. And, perhaps, to enjoy a macaron.

Broadway baby

I hope this morning finds you dry and warm! I was caught in the deluge last night, no 'brella, no coat. Typical newbie. But how thrilling thunderstorms are.

In other news, I was fortunate enough to get to take in my first Broadway show as a resident of New York City on Wednesday night, and what a fabulous show I chose to be my initiation.

"A Little Night Music", surely one of Sondheim's many great works, is playing currently at the Walter Kerr Theater, and this staging is truly incredible. With its replacement cast taking over for the mesmerizing Angela Lansbury (what I wouldn't have given to see her!) and the questionable Catherine Zeta-Jones, I was able to see live, in all their glory, both the breathtaking Bernadette Peters and the inimitable Elaine Stritch. Can you believe it?!

Honestly, if you're a student you can see the show for reduced prices, and I would have paid a ridiculous sum because this show is tremendous. The interviews, reports and reviews haven't been wrong - Bernadette and Elaine have a fabulous repore together, and bring Sondheim's music splendidly to life.

So really, what's a little storm compared to that much glitter?

"A Little Night Music" is playing at the Walter Kerr Theater, 219 W 48th St., NY, NY 10019

Start at the very beginning...

Hello friends!

Ok, as of yet this perky little blog has no friends but it may one day, so I might as well do my best to welcome everyone now. I'm a quirky, culture-loving, high heel-lusting, city-living girl with a need for frequent theater fixes and a continuous loop of show tunes playing in my head. I love life and want to share with anyone who cares to listen the varied and delightful reasons why.

First on the list? This incredible, hustling, bustling city, where pedestrians dictate traffic, cab drivers vie for power, theater flourishes, fashion thrives, and which Mary Tyler Moore made her own. Secondly? That incredible view from the room that lets me take it all in. Rain on the rooftops last weekend heralded a foggy day in London town, but isn't it charming?

Welcome to my world kids, it promises adventure.
